John DonneVerified

A collection of meditations from the early 17th century by John Donne, reflecting on illness, death and faith. It opens with his reflections on the sudden shift from health to sickness, and treats physical suffering and spiritual awakening as connected.

The first of two volumes of Donne's poems, edited by Herbert J. C. Grierson from old editions and manuscripts. It includes commentary and notes on Donne's difficult language, and the introduction explains the editor's reliance on the 1633 edition.
